I REALLY like this new collection and it may be the best collection of S&K work every compiled. This is almost twice the size of a Marvel Masterworks or DC Archives at 480 pages. All in color. Lots of cool Golden Age and Silver Age work, all complete stories. It includes the complete contents to the rare Stuntman #3, which was only published as a tiny b&w booklet to satisfy subscriptions. I've collected S&K for 40 years and I've never even seen a copy of this. Plus there are rare early stories of The Owl from Prize comics, some of the earliest collaborations. And lots of great Fighting American stories from the early 1950s, plus The Double Life of Private Strong and The Fly, their last hurrah before they parted company and Jack would create The Fantastic Four, The Hulk, Thor and all the other Marvel superheroes with Stan Lee. This is a really meaty collection of particularly fun reading, since in many of the stories they liked to inject tongue in cheek with the superhero concept...sometimes you can see a clear influence of Will Eisner's The Spirit. What a great team they were. This is the very best of their non-DC and non-Marvel superhero stories. Coming shortly in mid-2011 from Michel Gagne is a fine collection of S&K's best Romance stories. Maybe we'll see a best-of horror collection-their stories in Black Magic and Strange Worlds of Your Dreams were some of the best pre-code horror.
