An adventure classic that has been well-adapted into comics, in the Classics Illustrated series, as a wonderful Disney live-action film, and now in a superlative new graphic novel.
Gary Gianni is perfectly suited for this and you can see his love for the project from the first page. His forte is the kind of fine-line illustration so popular just after Verne wrote this book. So it perfectly captures the world of Victorian England and the early days globe-trotting adventure that Verne made so popular.
The bonus story, with Gianni's illustrations, of H.G. Well's The Sea Raider is every bit as delightful. Here is the full text, accompanied by Gary's imaginative fine-line work. The giant octopus of this story is even more terrifying than the one in 20,000 Leagues...this one attacks a seaside village!
Another fine production from award-winning publisher John Flesk. His books on Joseph Clement Coll, Steve Rude, Franklin Booth and Mark Schulz are always first class and an excellent value. This is no exception and I highly recommend it. Ray Bradbury provides the new introduction.
The Deluxe Edition features a wonderful finished painting of a man in an antique diving helmet, holding a strange weapon, with the Nautilus in the background. It is signed and limited to 600 copies. At just 10 more, it is a must-have bargain.
