By Joseph Traugott.
Baumann (1881-1971) found his true home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and produced a wealth of woodblock prints depicting the southwestern landscape and its people. As his images grew more complex, he devised innovative printing techniques, creating luminous prints with warm, blended hues. This book reproduces more than fifty of the artist's woodblock prints and gouaches and features an essay by New Mexico Museum of Art curator Traugott. The introduction provides details about Bauman's development as an artist and also about the artist communities in New Mexico.
