FORO ITALICO
By George Mott.
Originally created for the 1944 Olympic Games, the Stadio del Marmi was Mussolini's attempt to build a stadium even greater than the Coliseum. The Olympics were postponed by World War II and the stadium was ridiculed as a monument to fascist propaganda. Mott has beautifully photographed the 60 giant marble statues which encircle the arena. These heroic sculptures feature Herculean titans at the peak of physical fitness and the Stadio has recently been re-evaluated as a monument to the art and culture of the Italian people. Introduction and foreword by noted fashion designer Georgio Armani. Slipcase.

Contest! Win one of 10 original drawings from Charles Vess!

The first in our year-long series of special contests and promotions celebrating our 40th anniversary! Your challenge is to correctly identify the number of times Hayao Miyazaki's beloved character Totoro appears hidden in the drawings contained in Vess book. A longtime admirer of Miyazaski's work, Vess often honors his Japanese colleague by hiding a representation of the long-eared Totoro in his own work.
Order your copy today, then count the hidden Totoros, and submit your entry by mail, phone or email, and well place your name in a drawing among the other correct entries for one of ten original Vess pieces to be given away on March 9, 2010. One entry per customer please, must be received by March 8, 2010. Winners will be announced in our April catalog. Click here to see the book.
