EVERY DAY IS SATURDAY Book with CD
By Christopher Slater.
The Rock Photos of Peter Ellenby.
Fan-cum-photographer Ellenby snapped photos of the nascent indie rock scene in early '90s San Francisco, chronicling the rise of some of today's biggest alternative rock bands. Beside lesser-known scenesters, there's vibrant onstage shots of Death Cab For Cutie, Bright Eyes and the Foo Fighters, as well as shots of indie icons like Sonic Youth and John Doe (who also provides the insightful foreword.) From humble beginnings to the international Noise Pop festival, this is a riveting, colorful document of a vibrant counter-culture. Includes CD with music by 21 bands featured in the book.

Since when did slackers become celebrities? Since the '90s! This book fills a gap between the UndergroundCollege rock of the 80s and the mainstream Alternative of the 90s. Plus the photos are colorful & weird in a good way. Anyone from San Francisco in the 90s probably saw half of these bands getting burritos after their shows- everyone else can just pretend they were there back when Death Cab was playing a basement & living in a van. CD has some good stuff on it too.
