THE EARLY PHOTOGRAPHS OF BETTIE PAGE: An American Icon
Edited by Gary Reed.
Photographs & Drawings by Jack Faragasso.
Never-before-seen Bettie Page photographs. In 1951, young art student Jack Faragasso hired a model for a photo shoot. It was Bettie Page, just before her career took off and she became "Queen of the Pin-Ups". Here are the intimate shots from that afternoon session, accompanied by several of Jack's drawings and even several finished book covers that he used the poses for.

Jack Faragasso is a noted artist and art teacher who's renowned for carrying on the art traditions of instructor Frank Reilly. Reilly is considered one of the finest teachers of drawing and painting in the country. Jack assumed directorship of Reilly's school in 1967, after the artist passed away, and continues to teach there today. Includes a short biography of Bettie, of Faragasso, and his interesting recollections of the photo shoot and those early days in New York City.

Contains nudity. Bettie is mostly topless, in many of her classic poses. In most shots she's sporting nylons and undies or briefs. A few full nudes. We also handle Faragasso's Mastering Drawing the Human Figure.

About Bud

I've been actively collecting, buying and selling now since 1968. I received a San Diego Comic-Con Inkpot Award in 1994. I am in Fifty Who Made DC Great (1985) , Founders of Comics Fandom (2010), Comics: Between the Panels (1998), etc.

I opened my first comic store with six partners in 1968, co-owned a chain of seven comic stores from 1972-1988, and distributed comics and specialty items from seven warehouses in four states until I sold that portion of the business to Diamond Comic Distributors in 1988.

I've exhibited at every San Diego Comic Con since the first in 1970. I've twice been on the Spectrum Jury panel and am on the advisory board, I've helped publishers assemble books using my own collection as source material, and I provide input or advice to publishers on new projects.

I have never stopped collecting and learning about comics and art history. I'm pleased that my enthusiasm and interest can help me to better introduce customers to new as well as vintage artists and collections. I use "Recommended," "Highly Recommended," and "Our Highest Recommendation" to show my personal endorsement and enthusiasm for items that I am most excited about.
