By Hans Christian Adam.
Photographer Edward S. Curtis (1868-1952) traveled throughout North America, seeking to record the traditional life of its vanishing indigenous inhabitants. Like a man possessed, he strove to realize his life's work, which culminated in the publication of his encyclopedia, The North American Indian. His monumental work comprised 20 textual volumes and 20 portfolios with over 2,000 illustrations when completed. This collection culls Curtis's most impressive pictures and vividly details his journey.
