By Virgil. Adapted by William B. Jones Jr.
Virgil's greatest work was the 12 volume epic that told the story of the Trojan hero Aeneas and his quest for a new homeland in Italy that would become Rome. It was the centerpiece of ancient Roman education, and calls us back to a time when the ancient gods intervened and played with the fate of men and women. During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance it was the most widely read book in Europe after the Bible. We are fortunate to have this new abridged adaptation join the Classics Illustrated line--it is the first new book in the series since 1969 and has not previously been published in the U.S. Wonderful color and art. Penciled by Reed Crandall.
