My one complaint about this is that it is not a complete priceguide of paperbacks. So if you want to know about the more obscure titles, you need to hunt down another volume. However, if they'd tried that in this roomy, fully illustrated format, the book would be 1500 pages and sell for 100.But that said, what this does cover is the cream of the crop in paperbacks...all the most desired and coveted titles, broken down by genre. Science fiction and those delicious 1950s Avon titles by Burroughs, Howard, Merritt and others, Good Girl from fetish covers by Eric Stanton and Bill Ward to British artist Head, Western Louie L'Amour to James Bama covers. Detective--here's a wealth of Mike Hammer, Mike Shayne, Dell Mapbacks and more, with all those great covers by Belarski, Maguire, Bill George, Rudi Nappi... Plus here are sports, TV and movie-related tie-ins, social issues from romance to under-the-counter lebian novels of the 1950s and much more.More than 1100 full color photos reveal the best in paperback art, along with prices in three grades. This serves as a handy priceguide--I was surprised how much some of my dupe paperbacks have gone up in value. But also it's a delightful illustrated journey through paperback art, beginning and with a concentration on the 1940s-1960s, all beautifully reproduced from superb copies of the original books.
